On April 13th 2016, EULIS held the Annual General Meeting in London. The meeting was hosted by Her Majesty’s Land Registry (HMLR) at the Government Actuary’s Department called the Finlaison House.
Following the opening speech by the EULIS Chair, Pekka Halme, the Head Policy Department HMLR, Ms Nicky Heathcote, welcomed all delegates. She referred to EULIS as an important European portal for sharing cross border land information.
James O’Boyle was welcomed to the EULIS board as the new representative of Ireland.
On April 13th the EULIS annual meeting will be held in London. This year HMLR England & Wales will be the host. The event will start with a dinner the evening before. In addition to the standard agenda items of finances, reporting activities 2015 and changing of board members, much attention will be given to the future role of EULIS after the new portal of the DG Justice is implemented.
On Thursday March 3, the European Commission organised a conference to launch the ISA2-programme. 400 Participants from all member states took part in the conference, as well as lots of EU-institutions, members of the European Parliament, etc. EULIS was represented by Gerard Leenders and Rik Wouters. ISA (interoperability solution for public administrations) is an important EU-programme, supported by DG Informatics.
During the EULIS Board Meeting in Madrid, Greg McDermott was presented with the “Bengt Kjellson award” consisting of a medal of honour and a certificate. This award has been specially set up for people who have made a significant contribution to EULIS.
The Marine Cadastre project, a joint initiative of PCC, EuroGeographics, ELRA, CLGE and EULIS is progressing well.
